Exam Requirements

In an effort to create a competitive and scholastic environment, best suited for learning, Northbrook College of Health Care requires applicants to pass an entrance exam as an admission requirement.

TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education)

Currently, a passing grade of 65% is required on the TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education) for entry into the following Programs:

  • Basic Nursing Assistant Training Progam (BNATP-100)

Pre-Practical Nursing Program:

  • BIO 120 Anatomy & Physiology I
  • ENG 101 Rhetoric Communication
  • MTH 101 Math for Nurses
  • PSY 101 Psychology for Nurses

Allied Health Programs:

  • EKG Tech
  • Phlebotomy Tech
  • Patient Care Tech

The TABE exam, may only be taken for a total of 3 attempts; each attempt to be separated by a minimum of 2 weeks per year. A non refundable charge of $ 25 applies to each time the exam is taken. The TABE exam consists of 180 questions and tests the knowledge at 10 grade level. The college book store has TABE preparatory study guides for an additional charge.

TEAS® (Test of Essential Academic Skills)

Northbrook College of Health Care, School of Nursing requires all applicants to take the ATI -TEAS® (Test of Essential Academic Skills) for admission into the Practical Nursing Program. A non refundable charge of $60 applies to each time the exam is taken. The TEAS® exam may only be taken for a total of 3 attempts per year; each attempt separated by 2 weeks.
